The factory designed valve has shown in the real world
to experience that it is prone to becoming stuck in its
bore in the closed position blocking of any cooler flow.
The transmission temp fluid sensor will not signal until
well past the danger point of 130c.
The valve generally becomes stuck due to
contamination in the oil due to worn bushings and
torque convertor problems or lack of service. This commonly leads to a
major transmission failure due to a no lube condition

 

To solve this problem our friends at Superior Transmission Parts
have developed a non-stick, full-time lube cooler valve STL009
that can be fitted in the vehicle whilst servicing the valve body.
Valve body removal is required
Its installation will allow for correct instant oil checking
even at cold temperatures without a warm upcycle, saving on
average 45 minutes and guarantees full time cooler flow for greater
transmission life and lower average temperature operating range,
thanks to a built-in hi-pressure safety bypass valve in the cooler
lube circuit. Due to the full-time lube, average operating
temperatures are typically maintained around 70c – 90c even under
working conditions.
